Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro


 
Degrees:  

  • Doctor of Philosophy Degree - Human Performance with specializations in: Exercise Science, Health, Leisure Studies, and Physical Education

 

  • Master of Science Degree - Exercise Science

 

  • Master of Science Degree in HPER with concentrations in Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Sport Mangement


Doctor of Philosophy student assistantship stipends amount to approximately $14,000 per year and master's stipends are approximately $6,000.  Appointees have their tuition paid by the Graduate School.  Master's assistantships are normally limited to two years or 4 semesters and doctoral assistantships are normally limited to 4 years or 12 semesters.

Responsibilities:  Graduate assistant responsibilities are specific to each concentration.  Unique duties include teaching physical activity classes and assisting student major's clubs (elementary & middle school physical education; physical education licensure), conducting departmental fitness assessments and participatin gin research and lab activities (fitness and lifetime wellness); and leading motor clinics for students with disbailities (adapted physical education).
